Photographed from the observation deck at the Eastern Air Lines Terminal, JFK. This terminal was originally built without jetways, which is why the 727 air stairs are seen here in the deployed position. The terminal was demolished in 1995, and JFK Terminal 1 was built on the site.

love those air stairs

I love this vivid shot. Eastern played an important part of my traveling life as a young kid going to visit my grandfather in GSP. Although it was always an Electra or Convair 440 from Atlanta, this photo, with the integral stairs is beautiful. The turquoise and blue look, introduced in 1965, are quite striking to me today.

The B727 had air stairs??? I had no idea... Cool!!!

They are rare on the 727. EA had them on most of their 727s including the -225.
