While taking off through a thin inversion layer on this cold winter day (-25°C/-13°F), the Hornets compressed the ice crystals from the air as visible tracks and the low level winter sun made those tracks shine and flash like lightning bolts behind the plane. Simply incredible and rarely seen phenominon!

WOW! very nice one. A perfect example to show the effect of low temperature and low pressure (high speed) could condense the water vapour. Very useful picture to understand Physics better!

Now that's a weird effect - I've seen all sorts of other vapour trails etc. but this is unique!
