They can't paint their planes slow enough

On the 747-8 the new livery works (more or less), on this far less glamourous bird it looks really poor.

Nice catch btw.

You knew if a 748 couldn't pull it off, nothing could. They might as well just paint it all white, stencil "Airline" on the side, and be done with it at this point. It would be pretty similar to what they've come up with and should save some money.

Poor show. Drab. Looks cheap (and black too!).

I think if you like seeing the lines of an aircraft, this livery is just right. If one likes looking at a brainstorm of a PR department or firms' graphics and/or cartoon characters that will never stay the test of time, plus cost millions for the inevitable update, THAT is for you. At a glance, you know it is Lufthansa. Let's face it, passengers rarely pay attention to the livery or type of a/c it is - just the name.

If I can't say anything nice.....

I think it looks fine on this aircraft, nothing great, just OK. Certainly very understated, and nothing too in your face, which I think was ultimately the goal. I think the new livery looks horrendous on the 748 though, but much better on any other plane, such as this one, the A321 and the A350 which someone did a digital rendering of (will have to wait and see what that looks like in real life though).

bleak, drab and totally uninspiring

One word: yuck.

This looks palatable because the CRJ is derived from a corporate jet, and we are used to seeing that sort of livery on those planes.
