About 10 seconds after liftoff from runway 19R something happens with the left engine. Alot of smoke and fragments of metal and other material falls down on the runway. At first the pilots don't get any indications in the cockpit and plan to go on to Kuala Lumpur. Then we decide to call Arlanda duty officer to make sure that they have noticed the pieces from the engine on the runway. Shortly after that the pilots requests fueldump and return to ARN safely. [Nikon D70, Nikkor 80-200 f2.8]

The image is extremly crisp, the colors are vivid, the TIMING this photographer had is superior!
And just look at the debris flying from the left engine - is that a fan blade I see?

First time I'm seeing a pic of the stricken a/c. Plane was last B772 to complete cabin retrofit and re-entered 29Oct.
Latest info - 9M-MRI is OK now. Was ferried back to KUL and landed 2229/09NOV lcl time.
The camera settings was 1/640 sek, aperture value 6,3, exposure compensation -2/3
