A whole new type for Airliners.net! Originally designated model 119 (1959) and registered N4AZ, this four engined utility transport was designed to compete with the Jetstar for Airforce contracts. The Jetstar won and this aircraft was redesignated model 220, and marketed as an executive jet. This concept also didn't sell due to heavy competition and it was used as an MD corporate transport until 1965. The years between '65 and '70 are mysterious, there was talk of this aircraft flying covert operations in Latin America.....quite a history!
