I get a lump in my throat whenever I see pics of the 'old' Fokker Friendship. In the late 1960's I had the privilege of working as a traffic officer at Lae airport, in Papua New Guinea. In those days, this small airport was serviced by Ansett Airlines of Papua New Guinea ... and Trans Australia Airlines, who also used DC3's and Twin Otters (Twotters as they were affectionately known).

I also had the privige of hopping over to my hometown of Rabaul, flying on a Fokker ... registrations VH FNK, FNM, or FNN, on my occasional weekend off.

Over 30 years may have elapsed since then, but the memories are wonderfully vivid.
