The fabulous Beatles came to Miami for the first time on a National Airlines DC8 from New York for one of their live performances on the Ed Sullivan Show televised live from the Deauville Hotel on Miami Beach. Thousands of high school kids, myself included, skipped school and swarmed the airport to see them arrive, filling every rooftop observation deck and leaving their cars parked in the roadways when the parking lots were full. The airport was in chaos for hours before and after the arrival.
