If I am not mistaken, this is the first picture of Russia's 5th generation fighter in Airliners.net. Congratulations!

This is the first photo on Airliners of the new Russian stealth fighter - and it looks remarkably like the F-22 with some F-35 in it too. Not suggesting anyone copied! :)

If you ask me, it looks EXACTLY like the Northrop/Mcdonnell-Douglas F-23A. Nice catch though!

Nice to see newest Russian fighter, looks like YF-23... after all, now computers always give us the same result. Hope more shots of this new arrival !

Absolutely beautiful aircraft...I've been waiting for a PAK FA photo on here since its first flight in January.

Looking great, even better than the F-22. Awesome, thanks for sharing.

Great shot, there are far to few shots on the PAK-FA T-50 on Airliners. It really looks like a baby of the SU-35 and a F-22. I'm really looking forward to when the T-50 gets it's real tail part.

OK, similary with the Raptor, but aerodynamics and magnetics rules are the sames between the coast of Bering detroit... So an undeniable and remarquable Sukhoi touch (not very visible on this angle), who let the F22 more impersonnal... Sorry american friends, but i prefer the look of this one !!!

I bet we´ll see that bird on 9th May above the Red Square, when the russians celebrate the Victory Day.

Glad to see progress lives on in the Su series. To the poster implying that the Rusians copied US versions do some research on - the US stealing and dismantling a Mig 25 foxbat in the late 70s'...

Nice picture! I plane looks okey I would say. Looks Russian with the nose and landing gear. I don't think it will be a strong plane it's missing some thing. F-22 looks nicer but that is just me

Aircraft like these follow the rule of "form follows function". Their shape is optimized thru countless research and simulations. Like someone else has mentioned, aerodynamics research invaribly lead to similar shapes. I won't go that far to say the Russians copied the F22 or YF23. I think their research yielded the same results the Americans did with the F22.

Nice catch, when first saw it, it remind my of an old movie called "Firefox" with Mr. Eastwood... Must be the front section of the plane.

What a beauty! And the design? Twin jet with twin vertical tail and swept wings, cockpit up-front and on top of the nose, tricycle landing gear - yeah, definitively a copy of the F-22.

First time I have seen it with the gear down. Exiting to see her flying and thanks for the great photo. Looking at other photos out there it seems clear this is not a copy of the F-22 but form following function. The F-22 has some elements not seen on the T-50 but at a fraction of the cost of the F-22 this is going to be one bad #@@ bird. To a poster implying the US learned from the Mig 25 what they found was it was years behind the US fighters except in radar altimeter and IR sights. There are a couple great articles on that now being circulated.

A great shot of a fascinating bird. To me it's a stealthy evolution of the Flanker concept, in much the same way that the Raptor is a stealthy evolution of the Eagle concept.

This bird does not look like Raptor or YF-23. To whom it seems like the F-22? It is not so ... Not more than F-15 looks like a Mig-25. Russian made their design and their technical solutions. F-22 now looks like an outdated design car

FANTASTIC... Five Stars!!!

F-22 an outdated car? I beg to differ, this one look's more outdated with it's nozzle design still stuck in the 4.5th generation. 3D TVC isn't everything..
Nice Photo though.

5 stars from me!!!
Excuse me guys, but am I blind??
This plane looks like F-22 or YF-23???
Don't make me laugh, please....
It's a typical Russian (especially Sukhoi) construction with many stealth elements!!

A quote from famous aviation journalist Bill Sweetman: "To those who will call T-50 'Raptorsky', I have one piece of advice: DONT.

Cmon guys - this plane MUST be looking like Raptor - it a stealth! But it's definetly isn't a copy of F-22 or YF-23. Just look at the weapon bays and full-moving tails!

On many parametres an unsuccessful photo, but the plane is magnificent!

Guys ... you shouldn't think that T-50 is the copy of F-22. The laws of aerodynamics are equal to all. Obviously, such a design of the plane is the most optimal.

Five Stars!!! Not a F22 copy at all. Pure Russian Sukhoi stile.

Raptor copy or not, it's a beautiful plane, and a reminder that Russian engineers have a lot of imagination left in them :)

General requirements for fighters 5 generations, a single aerodynamic configuration. If you design a microwave oven, he will not be like a vacuum cleaner.

C'mon guys - this is not a copy of the F-22.
Much like the MIG-29 and SU-27,newer Russian aircraft are a mixture of several U.S. aircraft.
For instance, in the Mig-29 you can see a blend of the F-16 and the F-14.
The Su-27 a blend of the F-14,F-15,F16 and F18.
In the T-5O, I see a blend of the F-22 ( the wing shape), but also the YF-23 ( the spacing of the engines with the small tails and the long shape of the fuselage)
Overall, they have taken the best of both aircraft and produced a very attractive plane.
If you want to talk about copies, the late 60s and early 70s designs were obviously copies ( the Blackjack, the Su-24, the T-4, and of course the Shuttle )
Thanks for sharing the photo.
Nice clear blue skies and nice angle for this shot !

I would say... F-15 and F-22 are MiG-25 followers - definitely not on the contrary. PAK FA is a typical Russian, it has primordial Sukhoi style and soul. If some one can not see the difference between an apple and a tomato, well... it is their problem. It looks fantastic! And they did it... again.

Photo: Perfect!
Aircraft: Superb!
However, it will still be behind the Raptor in overall performance, whenever it is produced.
I see this plane being sold to other countries who want their first "Stealth" aircraft. Just like when other countries bought the F-105 Starfighter because they wanted a supersonic fighter, and didn't care about it's limited dog fighting capabilities.
