An amazing photo! If I had been in the left hand seat, given the obvious strong crosswind, I'd have aborted the landing and gone around. This could got out of hand very fast, and had highly undesirable consequences...

Just to be sure: Takeoff or Landing? Flaps don't really say...could be a T/O with Flaps above 1+F. In that case crabbing is even desired after Nose Wheel Liftoff.

It appears to be a tragic moment, but it wasnt. That is how to land a aircraft with a crosswind. The gear from the side who comes the wind should touch first.

The crosswind looks at least 50 degrees off-axis, this is outright dangerous, albeit being spectacular. I side with Capt. Dan this should have been a go-around. Greetings =OVNEMUM=

On the next frame the aircraft touched with the left gear. Afterthat was a perfect landing.

Photos should not only be rated by their quality on photography details, but on the difficulty to get the shot on the frame, or the spot where the photographer should be in a specific moment in time to capture it... like this photo... wow!

Although the shot is stunning, you guys realise that the zoom lense greatly exaggerates the crab angle? Look at the spacing of the edge lights ... could have been something like 15 - 20 degrees.

I have to say the A330 is a very graceful (sexy another way of putting it) bird, this shot makes it come out. Probably more graceful than the 777, which has other strong points. The timing of this shot is excellent.
