That is absolutely stunning...

The red and orange hues just shining perfectly. Are you sure that isn't Mars?

Can you see the earth curvature from there? I guess you were on FL330-390, and I remember that you could see this only in former times while flying with the the Concorde in FL500 or above? Or ist it only a fisheye objective for your camera ;-)

What a fantastic shot! The little "pressure release" hole in the window (if that's what it is), looks like a tiny planet in the background. Amazing 5 STARS

Irony is a tricky thing when posting a picture. But yes, it IS Mars ;)
Thanks for sharing, I love unusual perspectives of our homeplanet!

Wow. Imagine being right down there. Hundreds (if not thousands) of miles from civilization. I get goosebumps looking at this wonderful photo. Great work Van!

Thank you all for the kind comments. The 'airhole' on the leftside is not a hole... its the moon!
Just to add a little to the surreal-experience of this view ;)

The "Fisheye" lens on your camera really adds drama by creating a false Earth horizon-curvature! Perfect lens choice!

Exceptional shot. Looks like a shot from an orbiting spacecraft with the fisheye providing the curvature of earth and the colours truly looking like Mars.
