Taken by my late father, who was part of the liberating forces after WW2, when Kai Tak was a seaplane base. This frame went onto the NZAF as NZ4111 on 06/09/1953. This frame was written off on 04/11/1959 at Te Whanga Lagoon, Chatham Island, NZ while taxiing. The aircraft was taxiing to the start of the take-off run when the fuselage hit an uncharted rock. Although the aircraft was able to be beached under its own power, damage was so severe that the Sunderland never flew again

Nice bit of history Andy. My late father flew as a radio operator on Sunderlands in WW2 as part of Coastal Command based in West Africa!

I like all the spots and scratches and blemishes on the photo Andy. It all adds to the history of it. And that tow truck is so unique. Lovely to see.
