In the late 50’s, Avro of Canada got a contract with the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army to develop the Avrocar. Which was found unsatisfactory for forward flight but a somewhat suitable VTOL craft for near ground operation. AV-7055 was on display at a “Theme Pavilion” during Expo ’67 in Montreal. It served for wind tunnel tests but never flew.
