My first hike to Bomber Glacier in 2006. This is an aft view of the B-29, with the tail gunner's cabin still intact. The left wing has broken off and lies on top of the fuselage.

This is such a rare photo of this bomber! Great capture showing that the parts aren't even rusted and such after all these years!

Horror on ice. Like any great picture, it makes the viewer want to know the story.

USAF B-29 that crashed on Nov. 17, 1957 killing 6 out of the 10 onboard. 4 survivors waited 2 days before being rescued. Offcial military write-up says it was a radar calibration mission, declassified info says they were surveying the Russians. RIP....God bless.

The tailpiece appears rather intact. Did the turret crewman survive? If so, the conditions must have been torturous, or perhaps...not? It's a story to be told.
