Think this 60 year old B-52 looks a like it's been through a bit? You would be correct. This Stratofortress, nicknamed "Wise Guy," is only the second B-52 to be returned to service from the vast military boneyard (or AMARG) in Tuscon, Arizona where she had been parked since 2008. She was pulled from storage and many long hours were spent making her airworthy again. Once it was cleared to return to the skies, it was ferried to Barksdale AFB, around a week before this photo was taken. Regenerating bombers from the boneyard is a rare occasion and this BUFF was needed to replace another B-52 that was destroyed in a takeoff mishap at Andersen AFB in 2016.
Quite the feat!
