Arguably the most famous aircraft housed at the National Museum of the USAF, the 1st jet Air Force One. This AF1 holds the distinction of being the only aircraft to ever have a president sworn in on board. President Johnson was sworn in on this frame on 11/22/1963 on the tarmac of Dallas Love Field with the deceased President Kennedy aboard. Truly an amazing historical artifact that is immaculately preserved

gh6912: Wow! one of the best photos. As others have mentioned great shot, great lighting. You nailed it! When I look at this bird, I think of Mad Men. The days of cigarettes, martinis even at breakfast! One of the best iconic liveries out there that stands the test of time. If I'm not mistaken the Air Force 1 livery was designed by famous industrial designer Raymond Lowey. A little before many of our times.

Thank you for the kind words. It was a challenge without a tripod to use such a low shutter speed. I can’t claim to be skilled enough, 95% of this shot was dumb luck! You’re absolutely right Raymond Lowey was a key designer in this iconic design. And as you said it does bring back thoughts of a Mad Men era, a true icon! It looks great on the 707 as well as the 747, I hope it is kept when the new 747-8s enter presidential service

Beautiful shot... there are images of the new livery that will feature on the B747-8 on the web. It features more of a red, white and blue scheme apparently designed by President Trump personally.

A beautiful photo of a beautiful plane--and a reminder of a very sad moment. Many thanks.
