The XF-85 Goblin was built to be carried inside the huge Convair B-36 Peacemaker bomber. The design called for a jet-propelled aircraft only 16-feet long and 5-foot wide. The diminutive fighter was lowered from the bomb-bay of the B-36 and launched into self-powered flight. The Goblin was not designed to land - instead it would dock back with the bomber, being collected via the huge hook. Intended to give the Peacemaker self-defence capability, the concept never saw active service. Only two were built.
