No markings on this old bird, on display in front of the Silent Wings Museum. The plaque gives the serial number and identifies this as originally a C-47B allocated to the Air Force, but delivered as R4D-6 17278 for the Navy instead, in 1944. Finally converted to an R4D-6S submarine hunter in 1952. The type was redesignated to SC-47J in 1962. This aircraft was formerly on display at the Marine Corps Air-Ground Museum in Quantico, VA.
