This aircraft was assigned to the Chief of Naval Operations. Notice the white three-star flag above the canopy. The Navy Surgeon General was visiting Sheppard AFB's medical training facilities. LCDR Dwight I Worrell, USN, flew this plane from the late 1960's until it was retired on 6 April 1973. The jet was reactivated later only to crash on 23 January 1985. Thanks to LCDR’s son Dwight for the added information.

I saw this a-3b configuration on the flight line many times in the '70s at nas norfolk. A smart idea of the times.
