I'm already missing the tulip!!! The United titles are too small as well. It's a nice paint scheme, but the tulip was by far a prettier scheme. Anyways Congratz on the first shot of this plane!

Looks great! Color scheme reminds me of Lufthansa, and that always looks elegant on a 747!

Great shot! The "new" livery looks great on the 747! The only thing that bothers me is the word "United". They should change the font or style.

So old fashioned. Looks like a retro livery. Classy though but United blue stripes were way more modern and carried a much stronger identity. Americans usually have a good sense of image and have a history of striking liveries, this one is just not part of that heritage.

Beautiful photo, but I must I don't care for the livery, the United title looks so plain. The only part of the whole thing that looks modern is the globe on the tail!

Thanks for sharing. But in regards to the livery itself, I must say it's not as flattering as yesterday's official release made it appear. They definitely caught the best angle -- way too much white, and the weird Arial United font is too small.

I swear you could put the ugliest paint scheme on a 747 and it would still look stunning (not that continental's colors are ugly except for that UNITED lettering on the side). All in all great shot.

Great photo, but I'm totally unconvinced by this scheme. Wasn't the most inspiring colour scheme for Continental, but it's even worse now we've lost the United colours to it. I think they could have been more imaginative by combining the best bits of both schemes.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I took the photo about 30 minutes before sunset as the airplane was about to depart runway 22 in Amarillo. I was about 1/2 mile away on the roof of our building at work. Used my Canon T2i with the stock 55-200mm lens. Lucky enough to get good side lighting and aircraft position.

Very nice picture, but the livery... some say it has nice colors... What colors? Such a dull and boring livery! The last 'tulip' tail was one of the most beautiful tails in the industrie. Even my grandfather thinks this livery is old fashioned!

Why not use UNITED/CONTINENTAL? That'll make up for the short UNITED on the side. Otherwise a great livrey!

The 744 will be always one of most beatiful aircrafts ever built by Boeing, but not like the unforgettable Boeing 727-100. Wonderful pic! Gratulations...

Clean crisp picture, although the logo changes just look plain confusing. In my humble opinion, the UNITED just doesn't match with the logo of CO....
