Unlike other new liveries, this one isn’t growing on me. They’re going to have to change it soon again...looks 1980s

Hideous livery. Looks horrible on the larger jets.

Great picture but this livery is so limp compared to the gold it replaces. The insipid blue. The fade on the tail... oosh. Throw in the billboards and the totally disjointed swoopy fuselage treatment and you have one grab-bag livery.

Easily the worst livery in United's history.

For some reason I liked it....
Despite this livery fits way better into 763.

When i look at old liveries, they all had character. Chromes or bare metal, combined with laser-sharp cheatlines and warm colors that send a bold message and gave a sense of direction. These new liveries have no character. They are essentially billboards. Made as cheap as possible (all white), usually associated with blue, and wavy features, and blank noses so you don't even know what airline you are boarding by looking out the window. Cool colors with lazy, wavy designs give me the impression of timidness and "just going with the flow, wherever it takes me". This new era of paint jobs does not inspire confidence the way old ones did. This is usually when someone mentions that paint is cheaper to maintain and white is the cheapest color. That's my point. Everything is cheap now. It is possible to maintain a livery that is tedious. It's been done. The introduction of carbon planes is another story, though.

Look at the Saul Bass United livery. It's nearly as minimalistic as this new one, but sends a completely different message. Boldness and confidence. On an even more elementary level, it just looks fun. Liveries used to be fun, like walking into a candy store. Now, they have all blended into a homogenous mixture of whites and blues, sans cheatlines because bold, classy imagery is for some reason avoided like the plague.
