Stunning is an understatement. Wow!!! So clean it almost looks like a model. This is one of the best pics I've ever seen in anet.

And by the way, love the KAL 727 in background. Beautiful. I didn;t know KAL had 727s.

From where was this photo taken? What a great angle, and SO happy to see another photo of this bird. I feel like the only other UA L-1011 in the database is that one photo from SFO

It's a lucky shot, but I wish I remembered (sorry, almost 40 years...) I just know I would look for random windows or temporary opened doors (this is before the big terrorism waves), sometimes even out of bathroom lunettes (found one like that in Laos once.) This may have been taken from an early rendition of their observation deck.

Lovely shot, brings back memories.. Flew them twice, MNL-NRT then SFO-Osaka (Itami)-MNL back in '85-86.

And a question, the yellow tips on the flap tracks, never seen that before.

I wish I knew... I thought it was a Pan Am thing, but could not find any info, either!

My first thought as well.

Same. Don't remember ever seeing a UA Tristar pic before. From the reg I assume they were Pan Am hand-me-downs?

Airfleets.net shows UA had 6 total, all ex Pan Am. After UA, 5 went to Delta, and this one went to LTU.

United got PA's L-1011 along with their 747SPs when they purchased PA's Pacific routes in late 1985.

Sadly no Pan Am L10s ever made it to the Pan Am Billboard livery. Now that would have been a sight to behold.
