D/D 24/10/61 as N8813E with Delta Air Lines, in 1973 she was sold to Boeing. In 08/77, Monarch Aviation based in Miami started using her, probably having already been converted to a freighter. She was lst Inair Panama in 1980, & re-reg HP-876 07/81. Seen here at KMIA in 09/81 against a typical mid afternoon threatening sky. What a glorious sight ! I believe that she eventually became HP-876P & was eventually scrapped in Panama City, Panama. Scanned from a Kodachrome 64 slide.

Stunning shot, Ian! How I wish I was around to experience this chapter of aviation.

Cheers for your kind words. This was taken with a fairly crappy 135mm lens that was typical for the time, but thank God that LR had a Canon lens profile that helped with the vignetting from a slow film & low light combo.

What was the sound? Like a Dc8? More like a 727?

All jets were bloody loud in the late '70's & early '80's, so for me the Convairs didn't stand out for this reason. Both the 880 and 990 were very smokey though.
