The plane shown on this photo is wearing the colors of the air force of the Dutch East Indies. Since some German fighter pilot confused the original Dutch roundel (red-yellow and blue with an orange dot in the center) with the british one in 1939, so the Dutch then changed it into this orange triangle. When the japanese invaded the Dutch East Indies in february 1942, the S-53 probably escaped to Australia. As a trainer it had no strategic value but its pilots had!
