This picture depicts the near-end of an era. British Airways and predecessors have served Detroit for more than 50 years; that will all come to a close on March 29 of this year when the company ends service to the Motor City. On March 30, nonstop IAH-LHR service will commence, obviating the need for this DTW stopover. Here, Speedbird 203 Heavy to Houston resumes its journey from Heathrow. I dang near missed my connection to get this picture, but I like to think I captured a piece of history.

I was at DTW on March 3 and tried to see if it was there. Sadly it wasn't considering I got in at 10pm. Seeing this on a.net makes me feel much better that I at least made an attempt to take a picture of it.
