Twelve Jet Provost T.Mk.51s were purchased new in 1959 (Sri Lanka being the launch customer for this variant) and assigned serials CJ701-CJ712. The T.Mk.51 was purpose-built for light-attack duties, with two .303-in (7.7-mm) machine guns in the walls of the engine air intakes and underwing racks for typical loads of four rockets and eight 25-lb fragmentation bombs. Now a gate guard at the local children's park in Colombo.
