Milan-Linate overview. Near to the airport you can see the Idroscalo, a man-made lake that was originally a flying-boat base, but soon after its inauguration in 1930, the original plans for its use were abandoned and it became Milan's lake, a popular water sports and outdoor entertainment area. It has facilities for children, a sports club, a bike and jogging track, a natural reserve and picnic areas.
